USB Security
Protect Digital Systems From Threats Delivered Over USB
Removable media is a primary entry point for viruses and malware. TYREX provides a complete USB security solution to scan and decontaminate all types of removable USB devices.

Weak USB Security Puts Data and Infrastructure at Risk
The ease of connecting USB devices to sensitive systems makes them a popular attack vector. Research shows that more than one-third of global IT security threats are executed via USB. Any USB drive can carry viruses and malware into your digital systems, including air-gapped systems that are not connected to the internet.
Without reliable USB security, you risk:
Operational Disruption
Threats delivered via USB can take down critical systems.
Data Theft
Malicious code can silently exfiltrate sensitive information.
Compliance Failures
USB-related breaches cause regulatory violations and penalties.
Overcome USB Security Risks With TYREX USB Decontamination
TYREX is a comprehensive, multi-layered USB security solution centered on user-friendly, plug-and-play USB Decontamination Stations. TYREX Stations are easy to install, manage, and use.
Insert
Users connect their devices to start the decontamination process. TYREX Stations support a wide range of USB media, including USB sticks, flash drives, portable hard drives, SD cards, and Android phones.
Analyze
The station analyzes files and partitions with antivirus scanning, behavioral assessment, and advanced AI-powered threat detection. It detects viruses, Bad-USB attacks, and zero-day exploits.
Clean
If malicious code or content is identified, the station neutralizes it. The cleaning process adheres to military-grade data wipe standards for the complete removal of threats.
Certify
After analysis and cleaning, the station can also issue a secured digital certificate. Endpoints with our optional Workstation Protect Agent block non-certified removable devices.

USB Security FAQ
Which types of USB devices can TYREX stations decontaminate?
TYREX stations work with virtually any removable USB media. Our stations handle standard USB sticks and external hard drives, as well as SD cards and Android phones when connected via USB. If your organization uses encrypted drives, the stations can manage the encryption keys for secure scanning of BitLocker and Prim X Zed encrypted containers.
Can TYREX detect zero-day vulnerabilities and advanced persistent threats?
Yes. Decontamination Stations can go beyond traditional signature-based antivirus scanning. Each station deploys multiple antivirus engines, as well as an AI-powered static analysis engine designed to catch zero-day vulnerabilities. The system can also use optional dynamic analysis engines that use AI to investigate suspicious files more deeply.
Are the TYREX stations customizable for branding or user awareness?
Yes. The larger CONSOLE and TOTEM models can be customized with your company’s logo and visual branding. You can also use the touchscreens to display educational content like videos or presentations about cybersecurity best practices.
How are updates handled for TYREX stations?
Updates are handled automatically through a centralized management system. Your Management Server connects to TYREX’s master servers to receive the latest virus definitions, software updates, and security patches. Everything is pushed out to your stations automatically, so you don’t need to manually update each one. For air-gapped environments that can’t connect to the internet, updates can be managed through secure physical media transfers.
Do we really need dedicated USB decontamination stations?
Unlike network-based attacks, USB threats bypass your firewalls and network security entirely. Employee training helps, but the best-trained people still make mistakes. Blocking USB ports often isn’t practical since many operations need removable media for legitimate work, such as maintenance operations or access by external consultants. TYREX USB security solutions provide a pragmatic middle ground that lets you maintain operational flexibility while ensuring security.
Will USB security checks slow down business workflows?
The stations are designed to be as user-friendly as possible. They’re truly plug-and-play: no special software installation or technical knowledge required. Employees connect their USB device, and the station handles the rest. For high-volume environments, you can set up fully automatic scanning that minimizes user interaction.
Is it complicated to manage USB decontamination stations across multiple sites?
TYREX is built for centralized management. All your stations connect back to a Management Server, giving you a unified view of everything from one location. You can monitor activity and generate reports across your sites from a central dashboard. Updates and maintenance are automated on networked deployments. The system integrates with existing security tools, including real-time exports to SIEM software.
Can we prevent the use of unsanitized USB devices on our workstations?
Yes, when devices are sanitized, our decontamination stations can optionally issue a digital certificate tied to that device. We provide an optional Workstation Protect Agent that prevents the use of uncertified removable media.
